Western Fertility Institute (“we” or “us”) operates WFI Surrogacy at www.wfisurrogacy.com. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
If you apply to be a surrogate. We collect your name, email, phone number, age, location, height, weight, education and how you heard about us. Our application and questionnaires also ask about your health, your pregnancy history, your household, your spouse or partner, and any arrests or convictions. You may also give us photos and videos.
If you are an intended parent. We collect your name, contact details, location, the program you are interested in, your preferences and any comments you share. We also keep the profiles you save and your activity in your account.
When you contact us. We keep what you send through our forms and messages.
When you use the site. We collect the pages you view, your device and browser type, your IP address and login activity. We use these to run the service, keep accounts secure and understand how the site is used.
How we use your information
- To review applications and create surrogate profiles.
- To help intended parents find and match with surrogates.
- To manage accounts and messages.
- To contact you by email, text or phone about your application, account or match.
- To send updates and marketing email, which you can opt out of at any time.
- To protect the site from spam, fraud and misuse.
- To measure which pages and campaigns work, and to improve the service.
- To meet our legal obligations.
Who can see your information
We do not sell your personal information.
Intended parents. Surrogate profiles, including photos and health and background information, can be viewed by intended parents with an account.
The public. Our public surrogate directory shows de-identified information only, with no photos or names.
Our staff and affiliates. Our staff use your information to provide the service. L.A. Egg Donors, WFI Surrogacy and the Western Fertility Institute clinic share systems and staff, so authorized staff across all three may also access it.
People involved in a match. We share information with clinics, attorneys and others involved in a match when needed to proceed.
Service providers. These companies process information for us:

Legal reasons. We may disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of people and of our organization.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies to keep you logged in and to protect our forms. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies.
Our own first-party cookie helps us understand how visitors find us. It lets us record the pages you view, the website or campaign that brought you here, whether you use a mobile or desktop device, and actions such as tapping a phone number or sending a form. If you complete an application, this visit record is linked to it. We keep this record in our own systems and do not store your IP address in it. We keep it for about 13 months, and the cookie lasts 90 days.
You can block or remove cookies in your browser settings, though login and forms may not work without them.
How long we keep information
We keep application, profile and match records for as long as we need them to provide the service and meet legal and record-keeping obligations. Website visit records are kept for about 13 months.
Your choices
You can contact us to:
- See the information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Ask us to close your account or delete your information.
- Stop marketing email or texts.
We may keep some records where the law or our record-keeping duties require it.
California residents
You may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to limit how we use sensitive information. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Security
We encrypt information sent to and from the site, store passwords in hashed form, and limit staff access by role. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our services are for adults. You must be at least 21 to apply as a surrogate, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post changes here and update the effective date.
